Pursuit of Happiness

Posted by Raychel Celeste

I was having a talk with a friend this week who just recently divorced his wife of 5 years, and he's been in deep depression. This is just the tail end of the whole conversation, so it's taken out of context.. but I got sick of sugar coating things and finally said this to him.

We usually don't know what we want or what's good for us.. we have bad habits and our feelings can change at the drop of a dime. I think the only way we can really be happy is if we rely on ourselves.. trust ourselves, love ourselves. The people we love can hurt us, and we can hurt them. We should just let people come in and out of our lives, and while they're here we can have fun with them and love them. But you have to realize that they might not always be there, so you shouldn't have to depend on them for happiness. You'll never make anyone else happy if you can't make yourself happy.

Am I right? Opinions?

I definitely think it's most important in life to look out for yourself. You're your own most important person, and you have to take care of your own well-being.

I think you're right. Might have been harsh for your friend to hear if he's been relying on a woman to keep him happy. Love you dear.
